Car prep
Chassis work should be the first step in building a race car. We build the
skeleton of the car. The chassis shop is a very dirty place and has metal dust
and hot sparks go every where. If you have ever seen anyone weld you
understand what I am saying. All chassis work should be completed prior to
painting the vehicle whenever possible. If the car is painted we suggest a
heavy coat of wax prior to bringing the vehicle in to help protect against the
metal dust on the painted surfaces. When you receive your car back we will
have blown it off with high pressure air but there will still be a layer of
dust on it even if you can’t really see it. This is metal and will scratch if
you just wipe it off and if you leave it outside in the rain or dew it will
then rust. so first hose it off with pressure washer then wash and wax as
normal suggest using a cleaner wax.
Our prices are based on the car being properly prepped for the work being
performed. You will be charged an hourly rate for the time spent Removing and
reinstalling items necessary to complete the job such as: seats, carpets,
interior trim, speaker boxes, A/C parts, dash boards, brake lines, rear ends,
motors, transmissions, fenders doors hatches, hoods, fenders, steering
components, wiring harnesses, glass ect. This also applies to cleaning and
tearing down of used parts to be modified or installed such as rear ends Ect.
If we must remove glass we can not guarantee that it will not break upon
removal. Please let us know if you intend on having us do any of this work
upon scheduling your appointment. I will need to adjust the schedule
accordingly. We will be more than happy to do it for you with the exception of
after market electronics we will remove and label wires but unfortunately most
are not installed with plugs or even different color wires and we cannot risk
damage to aftermarket electronics so you will need to reconnect any
aftermarket wiring and plumbing finished elsewhere.
DAMAGES
First I would like to say most of the time we have no damages. For the
reason to follow Paint should be the last step in building a race car. We want
your car to be here the least amount of time possible for the least exposure
to possible damages this is in part why I work by appointments. If you leave
your car here because you didn’t bring me parts, need to bring it early
because you need it out of your shop or just don’t pick up…. not only will
storage charges build the possibility of dings scratches ect also increase. we
will not be responsible. If the job requires body cut out. I.E. back half …
Although we have cut out many cars and take all necessary precautions. Just by
the nature of the job it is nearly impossible to not have some minor body or
paint damage.
INTERIOR CARS: Even thought we take precautions and most
of the time we are fine by the nature of the job Race car builders cannot
guarantee 0 damage to interior trim panels.
Notify us of any after market electronics. welding on chassis could
damage them we must disconnect them from the chassis a battery cut off may not
be sufficient. we do not need the car to run, so it is ok to remove
electronics
If you are disassembling yourself we suggest using zip lock baggies
1 bag per panel for the fasteners .. label with a sharpie and place in a box
so they don’t get lost during the time it is in the shop. And then you know
exactly what screws went where when the car returns it is a little more time
at disassembly but save 3 times that in the end.
6 point
Remove carpets. Seats (bring with you we will need for door bar) and anything
in the trunk floor. If you are running any interior panels other than on the
floor they need to be in place they may or may not be able to be removed with
cage installed. If you need a head liner… put it in before installing roll bar
would need to be 2 pieces after installation.
